    Global Human Resource Centre is hiring a Property Maintenance Coordinator on behalf of our client in Peterborough. Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the maintenance requirements of three facilities including owned and rented properties and equipment. This position is covering a leave and offers approximately 28 hours per week.

    MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Plans and directs maintenance of all properties owned, rented or operated which includes contracting for services such as landscaping and snow removal
    • Maintains adequate and suitable records of all properties owned, rented or operated including equipment, furnishings and appliances and related maintenance costs
    • Ensures regular inspections are carried out at all locations to ensure acceptable operational suitability and fulfillment of regulatory requirements (e.g. fire and alarm inspections); ensures appropriate safety and security measures and adherence to building codes and legislation
    • Develops and maintains relevant standards and procedures related to maintenance of properties and equipment, furnishings and appliances including preventative maintenance
    • Participates in the development of all department budgets for equipment purchases, repairs and ongoing maintenance; scrutinizes all equipment requisitions to ensure available funding, supplier and cost-effectiveness
    • Purchases required cleaning and hygienic supplies and monitors inventories
    • Oversees the work of all contracted suppliers ensuring high quality, on budget
    • Responds to maintenance, burglary and fire emergencies and determines action required in collaboration with Director of Finance and Administration
    • In conjunction with supervisors and the Joint Health & Safety Committees, ensures that maintenance practices and properties are in compliance with legislation including Occupational Health & Safety Act, WHMIS, and fire safety and building codes to ensure safety for all staff, clients and facility users
    •  Oversees compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) for self and all indirect and direct reports by ensuring, or delegating to a subordinate to ensure, that workers comply by: a) working in the manner and with the protective devices, measures and procedures required by the OHSA Act and the regulations; and b) using or wearing the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the worker’s employer requires to be used or worn; and c) ensuring that only authorized, adequately trained workers operate equipment
    • Undertakes workplace inspections, conducts information sessions (safety talks, staff meetings), conducts incident investigations, conducts employee training, corrects substandard acts or conditions, commends employee health and safety performance, performs employee safety observations, reports accidents/incidents immediately, and performs any other activity to ensure compliance with the OHSA
    • Liases with and provides reports and suggestions for betterment to various departments including the Director of Finance and Administration and the Philanthropy department
    • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with internal and external partners including staff, clients, volunteers, contractors, suppliers, funders, officials and security specialists including the police, numerous community and professional agencies
    • Other duties as required

    REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
    • Excellent ability to make decisions of sound judgment, often in urgent situations
    • Strong planning, time-management , multi-tasking and organizational skills
    • Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills providing articulate, constructive and timely interaction at all levels
    • Advanced understanding and commitment to quality service and best practice
    • Able to deal with highly sensitive and personal information in a confidential manner
    • Able to travel regularly
    • Able to fulfill occasional requirement to work evening and/or weekend hours
    • Able to occasionally provide on-call support (evenings and weekends)
    • Able to lift heavy objects, along with bending, climbing, use of equipment etc.
    • May be exposed to potentially hazardous environments including bodily wastes and fluids, chemical/cleaning substances, noises, inclement temperatures, grease, fumes and equipment

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Certification or post-secondary education related to building and maintenance management, a trade or other related field
    • Minimum 2 years related experience in progressively responsible property and maintenance positions
    • Excellent knowledge of property and maintenance issues, required services and the management of properties
    • Satisfactory Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
    • Valid Driver’s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle with appropriate business class liability insurance may be required

    RATE OF PAY: $27.68 per hour
