    Our client in Scarborough is hiring a full-time Structural Packaging Designer. The Structural Packaging Designer will be responsible for designing and preparing working plans and technical drawings for cartons and other packaging projects from preliminary concepts, sketches, calculations, specification sheets and other data. The candidate will report to the Structural Design Manager and within established guidelines, will manage their own work schedule.


    • Designs and prepares detailed electronic (CAD) technical drawings and/or scale drawings for cartons, and other packages from observation, measurements, sketches and specifications
    • Produces design specifications for Sales, Customers and Customer Service (special requests)
    • Brainstorms as part of a team to develop design concepts using CAD (computer-aided design) and other traditional design tools
    • Prepares samples of packages for design approvals, shipment tests and other purposes on Mimaki Flatbed Cutting Plotter machine
    • Communicates with sales team to maintain design schedule and priorities
    • Updates information on Structural Design Logs and other related files on a regular basis
    • Researches structural design library to develop innovative packaging ideas
    • Processes purchase orders for vendors and suppliers related to die making and structural design
    • Organizes and maintains a design and CAD digital file database for each project
    • Reviews plans and writes technical reports to meet project specifications
    • Other duties as required



    • Works well with frequent interruptions both in person and by telephone
    • Excellent organization and project management skills, including the ability to multitask in a fast paced product development environment
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with proven analytical skills to clearly identify and understand clients’ needs
    • Able to work with minimal supervision

    • Demonstrated ability to finish multiple projects on time



    • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Package/Graphic Design or related field
    • 5-10 years working experience in Structural Designing
    • Expert proficiency in using CAD program, including 3D modeling functions
    • Strong working knowledge of design software including ARTIOS CAD, CIMEX CAD and/or Illustrator
    • Effective working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Adobe Products


    RATE OF PAY: To be determined based on experience
