Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Receptionist to join our client’s healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing various administrative tasks in a fast-paced medical environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and assist them with the check-in process.
- Schedule and confirm appointments using electronic medical records systems.
- Manage phone systems to handle incoming calls, answer inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff members.
- Maintain patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance.
- Collect patient information, including insurance details and medical history.
- Process payments, OHIP billing, insurance billing and manage billing inquiries.
- Understand and operate medical devices to provide pretesting exams.
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to facilitate smooth patient care transitions.
- Assist with administrative tasks, including filing, data entry, and maintaining office supplies.
- Assist other office locations around Durham Region when required.
Skills
- Experience in a medical office or as an optical receptionist is preferred.
- Proficiency using computers and phone systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals.
- Excellent administrative skills with attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Familiarity with office procedures and front desk operations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients and staff.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a busy environment.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 35 per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Experience: medical reception: 1 year (required)
Licence/Certification: driver’s license and reliable transportation (preferred)
