Cable Production Manager
Pay: CA$80,000.00-CA$85,000.00 per year
Job description:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Production Manager to oversee our client’s operations within their manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing production processes from establishment to optimization of EV charging cables. The Production Manager will be responsible for equipment selection, facility layout planning, staff hiring/training, process development, quality assurance and achieving targeted production volumes. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a solid understanding of EV cable manufacturing systems to optimize productivity and efficiency across all production lines.
Responsibilities
1. Production Line Setup & Launch
- Lead the full setup of a cable manufacturing department from concept to operational readiness
- Evaluate, select, and commission extrusion machinery, coiling systems, and quality testing equipment
- Design factory layout, workflows, and safety procedures to maximize efficiency
- Develop SOPs, quality control systems, and preventive maintenance programs
2. Manufacturing Operations
- Oversee daily production processes including extrusion, conductor prep, insulation, sheathing, stranding, jacketing, and cutting
- Ensure production targets of 100km+ per month are achieved, with scalability for growth
- Maintain high-quality standards aligned with EV industry regulations
3. Team Leadership & Development
- Recruit, train, and manage operators, technicians, and quality inspectors
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting and process optimization
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
4. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure products meet all electrical, mechanical, and environmental standards
- Implement and maintain compliance with ISO, CSA, UL, and IEC standards
- Coordinate testing, inspections, and certification processes
5. Continuous Improvement
- Analyze production data to improve efficiency and output
- Reduce waste, scrap, and downtime through process enhancements
- Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising product quality
- Lead and coordinate daily manufacturing activities to meet production targets and quality standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role
- Proven expertise in plastic extrusion (insulation, sheathing, jacketing)
- Experience launching a production line from startup to full operation
- Strong knowledge of cable materials (PVC, TPE, XLPE) and EV cable standards
- Demonstrated leadership in managing production teams
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, and analytical skills
- Solid understanding of quality systems and safety compliance
Preferred
- Experience in EV charging cable or high-voltage cable manufacturing
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma methodologies
