Job description:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intermediate Engineer to join our client’s dynamic team. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for supporting the design, analysis, and development of mechanical systems and components using advanced engineering principles and tools. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mechanical design, SolidWorks, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), and engineering calculations, along with the ability to collaborate across departments and contribute to project success with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D models, assemblies, and engineering drawings in SolidWorks
- Perform advanced FEA analyses and validate results through hand calculations
- Conduct stress, thermal, fatigue, and tolerance analyses to support design integrity
- Prepare technical engineering reports, including assumptions, methodologies, results, and recommendations
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to ensure practical and cost-effective designs
- Participate in design reviews and present technical findings
- Support prototype builds, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (BEng, BASc, or equivalent)
- Registered or eligible to register as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
- Proven experience in mechanical design and analysis
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks, including parametric modeling and drawing preparation
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools and techniques
- Ability to perform detailed engineering calculations related to stress, strain, and load analysis
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to wear and use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
